Publicación Acceso abierto Sistema de aislamiento de bajo costo para cubiertas de teja de barro en el Valle de Aburrá(Universidad EIA, 2019) Murillo Montes, Catalina; Sánchez Gil, Susana; Soto Estrada, EngelberthIn this work, thermal insulation systems were investigated to improve the performance of roofs built with clay tiles. The analysis was based on the calculation of the operating temperature and thermal modeling of a case study in the city of Medellín. The methodology was divided into four stages. Initially, the thermal performance of the case study was diagnosed, then the feasible alternatives for roof insulation were identified, then a model was developed using the IDA ICE software to simulate the chosen insulation systems and finally, the best alternative was determined to improve the thermal performance of the building. The analysis showed that it is possible to improve the performance of this type of roofs with extruded polystyrene by 1.74%. However, it was also observed that this is not sufficient to achieve adequate levels of comfort, being necessary to consider other measures such as the protection of windows to reduce solar radiation, the change of floor to ceramic tiles and the change of orientation of the housing, to achieve a reduction of 5.44%.
