Publicación Acceso abierto Administración, ser humano y naturaleza: diálogos inconclusos(2014-05-15) Monsalve-Lozano, B. (Bernardo); Guerrero-Guetiérrez, J. (Jonathan)The article covers the brief history of management, in order to show the loss of its primitive nature and transformation to current date, for production consumption usage and accumulation in the face of an environmental crisis and consequent effects on the planet. It provokes a reflection on the role to be played by human beings and nature in management thinking, to conclude that teaching a trans-disciplinarian ethos can open the way for integrated management, as it allows not only a constructive debate of disciplines but also, the recognition of the importance of various skills to solve complex problems. This will ensure dialogue over debate; dialogue aims to find a solution whereas debate is the justification of power.Publicación Acceso abierto Diseño de un amplificador riel a riel con tecnología CMOS 0,18 μm(2013-11-13) Hernández, Diego F.; Antolínez, Juan F.; Pineda, Elkin Y.; Yamhure, German; Paéz, Carlos I.This paper shows the full analysis, design and simulation of a 3.3 V CMOS input/output rail to rail or R-R operational amplifier using the design kit for the Synopsys tools. The technology used was CMOS TSMC 0.18μm whose cost is low for academic purposes. This paper details the complementary input stage R-R, the summing circuit and the R-R output stage class AB. At last the final layout and the results of simulation are shown.Publicación Acceso abierto Evaluación del mercado de opciones sobre tasas de cambio: perspectivas para una mejor utilización(2014-05-08) Ochoa, I. D. (Iván Darío); González, C. (Cristina)Since the Colombian economy is getting more and more globalize and after adopting a floating exchange rate, the COP has experienced some appreciation that has risen up to 25%. This means considerable losses to the export sector. And also it should drive towards a culture more active in risk managing to hedge against foreign exchange volatility, which could avoid significant losses to the import/export sectors in the future. However, it has been identified that, in spite of the recent volatility of the peso/dollar exchange rate, there is little advance in developing such a culture. So this article focuses on the investigation done about the reasons why the mayor Colombian import/export companies had not progressed in forex hedging even though there is an increasing risk because of the mentioned volatility. Investigations carried out on those topics above said were complemented with the study of the variables that determine the market price of options allowed to conclude about the principal reason against developing a strong culture for hedging against forex risk although this risk has been growing day by day. Conclusions are also drawn about why the Colombian options market has a very little deep, and which are the perspectives for a better use of this financial instrument which is identify for several authors as a symbol of a modern financial market.Publicación Acceso abierto Guía de laboratorio 1: Identificación de esfuerzos(2013-09-30) Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia EIA; Tabares-Ramirez, F. (Fabio) (clb)Identify the different types of stresses induced to structural elements such as axial stress, shear stress and contact stress.Publicación Acceso abierto Integración de la pensión del empleado con la gestión del talento en la empresa(2014-05-14) Galindo-Monsalve, R. (Rafael)The pension system is now a global concern, both for governments and for the self-employed or associated companies. Talent management in business organizations in Colombia has included the study, analysis and application of traditional processes in the area, including the compensation of employees. This article aims to analyze the way the worry, uncertainty, knowledge or ignorance of workers about their pension, have been aknowledged and incorporated into the talent management business. The article is a synthesis of qualitative research previously developed, which began with a detailed literatures creening, then supplemented by conducting in-depth interviews with company representatives from the city of Medellin and pensioned or people close to process their pension, also collected surveys of young students from the Escuela de Ingeniería de Antioquia to understand their expectations and knowledge towards the subject of pensions. The information thus obtained was subjected to content analysis. Managerial cadres of some private business organizations recognize that one of its priorities is the welfare and employee satisfaction, recognition from which the concept of worker’s pension deserves similar treatment.Publicación Acceso abierto Lección Cálculo en Varias Variables # 22-a(2014-07-14) Godoy-Bonilla, E. (Juan Pablo); Valencia-Velasquez, J. A. (Jaime Alejandro)The growth of power systems and the market conditions result of deregulated structures have made evident the operative and technical limitations that electric power systems have for supplying energy demand with strict conditions on security, power quality, and reliability. A unified power flow controller UPFC is one of the flexible AC transmission systems FACTS, devices which offer greater capabilities for interacting with operation and control variables of an electric power system, and can be an optimal solution for the additional control requirements on a modern system. This paper presents a mathematical and conceptual formulation for including a UPFC on a load flow analysis, and a methodology for its including on a steady state power flow software. For validating the proficiency of proposed model and methodology, this paper selects a suitable platform system for viewing the expected effects on a load flow by including a UPFC.Publicación Acceso abierto Para recordar los inicios de la Ingeniería Biomédica en Antioquia(2014-04-19) Escobar-Mejía, I. (Christian); Peña-Palacio, J. A. (Juan Alejandro); Márquez-Godoy, J. I. (Jose Ignacio)Due to the global financial crisis unleashed between 2007 and 2008 and which quickly spread to the real sector, many governments did come out to rescue banks, significantly increasing their debt levels and, in particular, debt sovereign. Thus, many countries have reached unsustainable levels of debt, so that central banks injected liquidity to markets and expanded its balance sheet to buy assets of countries and companies in crisis, in order to ensure the smooth functioning of financial system. That is why in this article provides an analysis of the levels of borrowing countries as a result of this process, and presents a series of reflections about the impacts and the consequences that these may have in the short and medium term, especially in predicting the magnitude of these impacts.Publicación Acceso abierto Situación de las técnicas de control de respuesta sísmica en Colombia(2013-11-27) Oviedo, J. A. (Juan Andrés); Duque-Uribe, M. P. (Maria del Pilar)This paper presents general aspects of the present situation of the use of seismic response-control techniques in Colombian buildings. The most prevalent techniques used worldwide are identified, and the results of a survey conducted among Colombian structural design engineers aimed at detecting some of the reasons why these techniques have not had a significant applicability in the country are presented. The results of the survey reveal that Colombia is still far from being a leading country in the application of seismic response control techniques, and that most entities and practitioners involved in building planning either do not know these techniques or are not well aware of economical benefits as well as improved structural performance. Finally, based on experiences gained in other countries, the use of these techniques in structural design for Colombia buildings is encouraged.
